Urban Target

At Urban Target we believe there should be no barriers to engagement, no limits applied to any young persons potential, and that everyone should have ownership in shaping their own provision. We have found that a grass roots, needs led approach is a great way to work with marginalised and disenfranchised young people. Our purpose is to give all young people a platform to make positive changes in their own lives and their wider community. We aim to give them the building blocks needed to become productive members of society. By increasing their self-resilience and confidence, we can establish social mobility in some of the most excluded young people, bringing them back from the fringes of society. We aim to provide an environment that they not only feel safe in but have ownership over. This contributes towards the building of strong relationships with the young people, which enables us to support them in making positive lifestyle choices.

We currently work with young people aged 11-24 using our core provisions of detached street work, activity sessions, and 121 support work. Participants come to us in their peer groups, family units, and as individuals. Our main method of engagement is detached street work which is used to build trusting relationships with socially excluded young people. Through our regular presence on the streets, we create and maintain relationships of trust and informal support.
